The HC&S sugar mill outing, led by Maui Camera Club member Derek Brown, was a tremendous success. The interest for this outing was so overwhelming that Derek added a last-minute fourth tour of the facility (which filled immediately).
The camera club was given access to almost the entire working mill, so we had to contend with changing lighting with every step (inside, outside, well-lit, barely lit), we had steam and heat fogging our lenses, and we had all kinds of debris in the air (bagasse, water, mud, etc.) to keep away from our lens. What a challenging shoot, but an amazing day!
Thanks again to Derek for making this tour a reality. Nobody knows what the future holds for the agricultural landscape on Maui, but we do know that it will change.
Here are a few photos our club members took on the outing.
